Come visit with Abby and her friends on a special Playdate!
Playdate: In this pilot episode, Abigail and her friends Gus, Buddy Rex, Ash, Zoe, Shh-aron the Snake, and Dee join together for a Playdate. While staying at home, they reach out to their friend Alejandro realizing that even though they are far away they can still say "hello." This episode features short "a" and focuses on ways to say "hello."
Written and directed by Abigail St. John, Playdate is intended for Pre-K and Kindergarten age children and introduces letters and rudimentary SEL skills. The pilot was produced during the COVID-19 quarantine in April/May of 2020. All the puppet friends were created by Abigail using materials available on hand. Meditation: We begin every session with a check in and meditation. The brief meditation allows us to bring focus to the work we will do together and creates a calmness that makes learning easier.
Physical Warm-up: Routine is critical to successful lessons, and since our lessons are centered around acting, we start by engaging our body from head to toe.
Vocal Warm-up: Furthering our routine as actors, we engage the voice with the goal of speaking clearly and distinctly. This is so important as we prepare for our oral reading fluency work.
Alphabet Yoga: A foundation activity, alphabet yoga reminds us of the letter shapes and sounds, and can be used for a variety of activities including spelling words with our bodies.
